Helping Children of Color Heal from Collective Trauma

Trauma manifests differently when it’s all around, all the time. For many people of color, this exposure to collective trauma is not new; in fact, people of color are more likely than their white counterparts to be predisposed to trauma and less likely to access treatment. A significant factor of that predisposition is the racial dynamics within American culture and systems that allow people to inflict violence and brutality against people of color, which children of color witness on the news, at school, and in their own communities.
