Alexander JFS CEO Receives Prestigious Award from Washington University
Carl Josehart, chief executive officer of Alexander Jewish Family Service, received the Distinguished Alumni Award during Founders Day Nov. 15 at Washington University in St. Louis. Founders Day commemorates the university’s founding in 1853 and celebrates Wash U’s milestones and the people who made them possible. Josehart received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in social work from Washington University.

The Houston organization's Open Hearts, Open Doors initiative offers counseling and mental health services to support the city’s LGBTQ+ community. Texas has the second-largest LGBTQ+ population in the U.S., about 1.8 million according to the Public Policy Institute of California—with Houston having the largest population of any city in the state.

UH Alumna, Faculty Member Gains National Recognition
Dr. Ada Cheung’s north star is helping people in ways that also allows her to grow. The Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA) recognized the success in Dr. Cheung’s mission and awarded her the Professional Leadership Award, making her one of only two recipients selected from over 150 agencies worldwide.
