Laura Alter, CPRP

Manager, Alexander Jewish Family Service Career and Employment Center

Laura Alter, CPRP is Manager of the Career and Employment Center at  Alexander JFS providing career counseling, education advice, and job skills training to all levels of client.

The Texas Workforce Commission has certified her to provide Job Placement services, Job Skills Training, and Vocational Adjustment Training to adults with disabilities. Laura holds an Autism Endorsement from TWC. Laura strongly believes in providing person-centered services to each client.

Laura presents Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training to employers about providing an inclusive workplace for all employees.

A native Houstonian, Laura received a MS in Human Resource Management from Houston Baptist University, and a BA in Psychology and Management from UT Austin. Laura has over 15 years Human Resources Management experience prior to Alexander JFS.

Jeanette Garcia

Job Placement Specialist

Jeanette Garcia provides job placement services and job skills training to clients with disabilities. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Purdue University. Jeanette has several years of experience providing educational services to high school students with behavioral issues. Jeanette is certified by the Texas Workforce Commission, Vocational Rehabilitation to provide Job Placement and Job Skills Training to individuals with disabilities. Prior to her career in education, Jeanette worked at the United Way 211 line.

Helene Maltzman

Career Counselor and Business Developer

An experienced career coach, facilitator and program manager, Helene Maltzman joined Alexander Jewish Family Service as Career Counselor and Business Developer in January 2014.  Helene’s deep experience supporting institutional missions include higher education, corporate, professional services and not for profit. She advises,coaches and encourages individuals with their job search.  Helene is a connector and helps builds relationships with employers that will provide advice, feedback and job leads to Alexander JFS clients. Helene is certified by Texas Workforce Commission for Job Placement and Job Coaching. Helene holds a B.S. Education and M.Ed. from Lesley College, Cambridge, MA.

She leverages her expertise and experiences to help every client realize their full potential and find the career they were meant to have!

She holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and has over 15 years of Management, Coaching/ Development/Training and Recruitment experience prior to Alexander Jewish Family Service.
