A little over a year ago, my student colleagues and I shifted to online learning. Some of us also shifted to virtual internships. If you experienced a sudden immersion into the virtual world firsthand or through your children, you understand what an adjustment that can be.
Below are common themes drawn from the experiences of Jewish Family Service of Houston’s clinical interns during the global pandemic. Whether you are an educator, parent, employer, employee, student, clinician or client, you likely can relate to some of these experiences.
Keri Powell is a clinical social work intern in Behavioral and Mental Health Services at Jewish Family Service of Houston, where she specializes in mental health approaches that address the whole person – mind, body and soul. In addition to being a certified yoga teacher, personal trainer and nutrition coach, Powell has a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology and a Master of Science in microbiology.
