Clinical Social Work Fellow

Under clinical supervision, this full-time post graduate position will manage intake for both children and adult programs. This position will provide clinical interventions to the suicide prevention services, grief and bereavement focused psychotherapy, provide DSM 5 diagnosis, assessment, and psychotherapy services to a range of age groups, from children to adults with traumatic loss, mental health issues, co-occurring disorders, and behavioral challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage intake for both children and adult programs
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for clients
  • Provide therapy interventions for individuals, couples, families, and groups
  • Provide assessment and diagnosis using DSM5 criteria
  • Complete billable therapy or diagnostic sessions each per week
  • Develop treatment plans for clients that reflect diagnoses and other mental health/behavioral problems
  • Collaborate with other service and mental/physical health care providers as needed, provided the client has signed a release of information allowing it
  • Maintain and develop case load, appointments, and schedule
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner
  • Accommodate walk-in clients in crisis or with urgent needs
  • Create and provide educational training or support groups, when necessary
  • Provide home/community visit after traumatic death/loss
  • Provide timely initial assessment, brief intervention, referral and follow up, when necessary, requested by superiors
  • Provide grief and bereavement focused support groups and psychotherapy
  • Develop clinical protocols, guidelines, training, presentations to support the clinical interventions to the suicide prevention services
  • Respond to urgent needs request from the community during non-office hours, when necessasry
  • Attend staff meetings, case consultations, and trainings as requested
  • Create medical records for current and previous clients
  • Provide services at different JFS locations, when necessary

Education:

  • Licensure: Current LMSW
  • Bilingual preferred

Qualifications:

  • Experience intake screening and assessment
  • Experience diagnosing mental health and substance use disorders using DSM 5 criteria
  • Experience treating mental health disorders
  • Experience providing individual, group, and/or family counseling
  • Familiarity with and experience in referring clients to outside resources and services, such as substance abuse facilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of community resources
