Very few stages in life are filled with more hope and anticipation than the nine months spent expecting a new life. Pregnancy is a time of future-world building – who will my child be and what will they become?

During this period of expectation, some parents are confronted by a painful reality when they find out their child will be born with a disability. News of complications can extinguish their joy and excitement and replace it with fear and self-doubt.

Grief overshadows love. Sorrow replaces hope. It is a time of looking inward, of assessing everything that is wrong with their new baby.
